Eucalyptus radiata and Eucalyptus globulus. Two trees, one deep breath.
Where it comes from
Eucalyptus is Australian, and Aboriginal peoples used the leaves for thousands of years, crushing them for wounds and steaming them for coughs. The tree spread around the world in the 1800s partly because it grows so fast that it was planted to drain swamps and supply timber, and by the 1870s Australia was distilling and exporting the oil commercially. Today most eucalyptus oil comes from China, Portugal and Brazil, but the plant is still unmistakably Australian.
Why we use two
Globulus is the classic: strong, medicinal, the smell of a steam room. Radiata is softer and rounder, with the same clean character but less of the bite. Blending them gives us the full eucalyptus effect without it smelling like a cough drop.
What it does for skin
Eucalyptus has a naturally purifying, cooling quality that's made it a go-to for post-workout skin and for anyone who wants their shower to feel like a reset. In soap it gives the lather a clean, almost squeaky feel that oily and combination skin tends to love.
How it smells
Camphorous, clean and green, with a sharp, cooling edge that clears your head. It's the heart of our Eucalyptus Mint bar, paired with peppermint and spearmint for a shower that wakes you up.
Good to know
Eucalyptus is a strong oil. We keep it well within safe limits for skin, but if you're very sensitive, start with our Unscented bar. Both of our eucalyptus oils are certified organic.
